MediaCom appoints group business director

MediaCom has appointed Michael Waymouth as group business director. Waymouth, who was media strategy and planning manager at former client IAG, will lead client relationships and deliver channel strategies for MediaCom client Pharmacare. He will also manage client integration of the agency’s diversified services. Waymouth brings more than 10 years of industry experience, including agency and in-house roles. He is familiar with MediaCom, having previously collaborated with its MBA and business science teams during his five-year tenure at IAG. 

 

Media Thursdays is on tonight

Media Thursdays kicks off tonight with the second round of its DJ competition at the Burdekin Rooms in Darlinghurst at 630pm. All the DJ's in round two of the competition have been told to "Splendour their sets" for those who missed out on tickets to the music festival this weekend. If you don't care about Splendour and want to go wild in another way, AdNews is told there will be Lures set up so you catch catch 'em all while you drink 'em all.

France to ban cigarette brands for being trendy

France is mulling over new legislation which could see certain brands of cigarettes banned for being cool. According to The Guardian, the laws would mean tobacco products “must not include any element that contributes to the promotion of tobacco or give an erroneous impression of certain characteristics”, but stops short of indicating what that could include. It could means that brands including Gitanes, a favourite of Serge Gainsbourg, could be under threat.

ShareRoot signs first Australian deal

Silicon Valley tech startup ShareRoot has sealed its first deal in Australia with specialist digital agency, Digital Fuel, following its expansion AdNews reported earlier this year. Its technology is expected to help the agency fuel campaigns in the online gambling sector. Under the contract, Digital Fuel will pilot the UGC platform with one of its key clients. In sealing this deal, ShareRoot forecasts it will win more than 30 new Asia Pacific clients within the next three years.
