Carat MD Lauren Small goes in-house at Optus
Carat's managing director Lauren Small has left to become senior director of media and operations at Optus' in-house agency. After three years at the Dentsu media agency, Small's move to in-housing is the next phase of her career, she confirmed with AdNews.
Dentsu Creative nabs DDB's Katie Firth to lead Victoria as MD
Dentsu Creative has appointed Katie Firth to lead its Victorian business as Melbourne managing director. Firth joins from two years at DDB Group Melbourne as managing partner and has spent the past 12 months helping lead the Omnicom Smith St. creative+media model servicing Coles.
Scentre Group BrandSpace expands team
Nick Morelli has been appointed group manager, NSW retail to develop and drive a new retail partner media offering geared toward performance of business partners in areas such as brand and performance marketing. Hannah Tarlinton has been promoted to the role of group sales manager, retail and Jarrod Jenkins has joined the team in a newly created role, to lead the strategy and solutions team and disciplines, as group manager, strategy and solutions.Katie McCann joins the BrandSpace NSW agency sales team as NSW group manager and Sally Carr, most recently head of trade marketing for ARN has joined as senior trade marketing manager.
McCann's Ben Coulson becomes Dentsu Creative's CCO
Dentsu Creative has appointed Ben Coulson chief creative officer for ANZ. The appointment follows the departure of Mandie van der Merwe and Avish Gordhan who joined Saatchi & Saatchi Australia as joint chief creative officers last week, after just a year at Dentsu Creative. Coulson’s career has spanned roles in North America, UK, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
The Works promotes Claire Stapleton to creative director
The Works has promoted Claire Stapleton to creative director from the role of creative lead - copy. The move underscores The Works' commitment to nurturing talent from within and driving its creative capabilities to new heights. Stapleton will assume a pivotal role in shaping and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams, and enhancing the agency's creative offerings.
Icon Agency appoints Jason Guo chief technology officer
Icon Agency has made three senior appointments, strengthening the agency’s Canberra presence and bolstering its digital capabilities. The most significant move supporting this ambition is the appointment of Jason Guo as chief technology officer. Guo, a 20-year veteran in information technology, will oversee the expansion of the agency's technology stack and systems. Andrew Mackay steps into the role of executive director of digital, with Isaac Townsend becoming lead developer.
LEVO appoints Ronil Rangaiya digital solutions architect
Clemenger Group strategic design and technology consultancy LEVO has appointed Ronil Rangaiya digital solutions architect at its advisory and consultancy practice. Designed to guide and support clients through digital transformation, LEVO’s advisory practice has collaborated with clients such as the University of Technology Sydney, Officeworks, Jemena, Smart Group, and Interflora.
Taboola’s Skimlinks appoints new APAC director
Taboola has expanded its Skimlinks platform team after recording significant growth in Australia. Digital executive Jade McDade has been appointed APAC director for Skimlinks. The commerce content platform, which is owned by Taboola, continues to grow its stable of Australian publishers and has operated across APAC for the past four years.
Think HQ appoints Rob Barnett ECD
Positive change agency Think HQ has hired two new senior creatives - Rob Barnett as executive creative director and Max Bengtsson as senior copywriter. The multi-awarded pair previously worked together on the client side at Xero. Before his time at Xero, Barnett freelanced at agencies including Leo Burnett, BWM Dentsu and JWT. Prior to that he worked at M&C Saatchi for more than five years and he has also worked for Isobar (now Dentsu Creative).
Schwartz's Rebecca Costello becomes Guardian Australia MD
Guardian Media Group has appointed Rebecca Costello as new managing director of Guardian Australia. She will join Guardian Australia in January, succeeding Dan Stinton who left Guardian Australia in August. Reporting to GMG chief executive Anna Bateson, Costello will oversee the strategic direction and overall growth of the Guardian Australia business, working in partnership with Guardian Australia editor Lenore Taylor.
BrandX Live names Marc Riley as CEO
Specialty multi-channel publisher BrandX Live has appointed Marc Riley as CEO. Riley joins BrandX Live after roles with NGO Training Centre as head of sales and marketing, and as a group sales director with News Corp Australia. At BrandX Live, Riley will oversee a growing team of sales, creative, and editorial staff working in its Gold Coast head office and remotely from across Australia. BrandX Live is the publisher of The Bursar and Animal Care Australia.
