One of the world's largest mining and metals corporations, Rio Tinto, has appointed Zenith to its media planning and buying account following a competitive pitch.
The account is being handled out of Zenith’s Melbourne office. The billings for the account remain undisclosed.
"Zenith is delighted to be appointed as Rio Tinto’s agency of record, and comes off the back of a successful 2018 for the agency, with both local and global new business wins," Zenith Australia CEO Nickie Scriven said.
The win comes after a number of new business wins for the agency in 2018, including Lactalis, Chinese ride-sharing company DiDi and the Australian College of Psychology.
“Rio Tinto is pleased to have appointed Zenith to its media planning and buying account following a competitive pitch. We look forward to working with Zenith and our creative agency Marcel Publicis on our ongoing brand activity in Australia," Rio Tinto chief adviser Bernadette Murdoch said.
The mining and iron ore company is one of Australia's most successful and currently averages $80 a share on the ASX, with a global worth of US$14.474 billion.
It's the second win for Zenith in a matter of months with eyewear brand Luxottica also handing its global media account to the Publicis-owned agency.
