It's time for media owners and agencies to bring out the whites and willow for the industry's annual The Big Clash event on 16 February at Sydney University.
The T20 cricket match pits media owners against adland's finest and will raise money for industry charity UnLtd, which will support BackTrack's running strong program, as well as Breast Cancer Network Australia in support of Mindshare's chief investment officer Nicola Lewis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid-2016.
“The Breast Cancer Network Australia does amazing and important work for thousands of women around the country who are living with breast cancer, and I’m thrilled The Big Clash is throwing support behind it this year,” Lewis says.
The match was founded by Chris Freel, commercial director at Pandora and Oliver Newton, national sales director at JCDecaux.
In its third year, bragging rights have so far been shared, with the agency side winning last year, led by a brisk 22-run knock from captain and PHD boss Mark Coad.
“Having raised more than $50,000 in the first two years of The Big Clash we are keen to double that amount this year. We will once again support UnLtd and focus on the great work that BackTrack is doing supporting young girls,” Freel says.
“We’re also pleased to support Nicola Lewis and the Breast Cancer Network Australia who raise funds for the support of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.”
Newton urged the industry to get behind the event, which promises plenty of thrills, a few spills, big hitting and a celebratory drink or two.
“It’s not just the middle-aged men on the field, we have some great mystery guests popping down to support on the day, so please come down for a drink to watch the match of the year – and bring your teams, friends and families too,” he says.
