Hyundai has appointed Sydney independent Orchard as its digital agency of record, following a competitive pitch, AdNews can reveal.
As a result, the automotive brand will no longer work with digital agency VML. AdNews understands Hyundai had been working with VML on a project-by-project basis for several years, leading the relaunch of the brand's website in 2015.
It's a sizeable win for the agency, which in the past has specialised in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
This is the second win for Orchard this year, also picking up hair products giant Schwarzkopf in June.
Globally, Hyundai has an internal creative agency, Innocean, that handles its main brand work.
Innocean ran a recent pitch for Hyundai sub-brand Kia, which landed with Havas in March.
Earlier this year, Innocean Australia launched a new campaign for Hyundai's i30 model.
Orchard was approached for comment.
