Optus has promoted Melissa Hopkins to the newly-created role of vice president, marketing.

Hopkins has been with the telco for more than four years, most recently as its head of consumer marketing.

In her new role, Hopkins will bring together brand and marketing teams, leaders, and capabilities across Consumer, Business, and Enterprise.

The company’s marketing and revenue managing director Matt Williams says this will help produce a “consistent” approach across Optus.

“By bringing together our marketing across the business, we will be able to ensure that we continue to build one of the strongest brands in Australia, and truly deliver on our strategic vision of becoming Australia’s most loved everyday brand,” Williams says.

“Her role will lead on all of our brand and marketing activities, including brand-building, new customer demand generation through external marketing, customer base marketing, and marketing management around our media planning and agencies.”

Hopkins has previously worked at companies such as Publicis London and Vodafone throughout her career. She first joined Optus in 2016 as its director of marketing and communications.
