Nine dishes up a hot plate with reality launch

Hot off the heels of MasterChef's grand finale, Nine dished up its own cooking reality show, The Hotplate, last night up picking up 784,000 viewers on launch, according to preliminary overnight OzTam figures.

The Hotplate was the seventh most watched show of the night, winning show in the 7.30pm timeslot against the launch of Seven reality series Restaurant Revolution which picked up 676,000 viewers and was the 12th most watched show of the evening.

The Hotplate was also the most watched metro program with people aged 18-49.

Both hashtags #TheHotplate and #restaurantrevo were trending in Australia last night according to Trendsmap.

The most watched program overall was Nine's A Current Affair which picked up 1.16 million viewers followed by Nine News which scooped 1.15m viewers.

Seven won the night with total audience share of 27.4% followed closely by Nine on 26%. Ten took 20.1%, ABC secured 19.4% and SBS took 7.2% of the total share.
