M&C Saatchi taps ex-adam&eve exec

M&C Saatchi has appointed Russell Hopson to the newly created role of group managing director for its Australian business. Hopson will support the leadership teams across the advertising, communications and production businesses. He was previously at adam&eve/DDB London where he worked with Volkswagen. Prior to this, Hopson was at London shop RKCR/Y&R where he led the Virgin and Bacardi accounts. Hopson said it took something special to make him leave adam&eve/DDB, and the new role at M&C was precisely that. M&C CEO James Leggett called Hopson "whip smart" and a brilliant leader. Nextgen nabs Bang

IT group Nextgen has acquired digital marketing company Bang Australia in a move that follows a larger trend of tech-focussed consultancies integrating creative marketing and branding services. Bang has previously worked with clients including Cisco, Microsoft, Fujitsu and IBM, offering brand strategy, planning, brand identity and creative digital campaign services. Nextgen CEO John Walters calls Bang a serious and well-respected strategic marketing player and says the partnership will add depth and scope to Nextgen's current digital marketing service. Bang managing director Martin Mason says the opportunity will help Bang deliver digital life-cycle marketing programs to partners.
