Wunderman Thompson’s new MD
Wunderman Thompson has appointed Matthew Parry as Sydney managing director. Parry was previously managing director of Wunderman Thompson Hong Kong and has 15 years’ experience within the Wunderman Thompson network. He began his career with J Walter Thompson London in 2006, before moving to Asia in 2012. Since then, he has helped establish and grow a regional hub team for HSBC spanning 12 APAC markets and has led a multi-national client portfolio in Shanghai.
Mike Wilson joins Hypetap board
Former Havas executive chairman Mike Wilson has been appointed as an independent non-executive director at influencer agency Hypetap. Wilson stepped down as chair of Havas Media Group AUNZ in August this year. He had been the founding CEO of the business since 2013 and became chair in 2019. Wilson joins the agency following a significant period of organic growth as it positions itself for continued expansion.
MediaCom promotes head of digital
MediaCom has promoted Minsun Collier, formerly national head of digital, to national head of data & technology acceleration. Collier has been with MediaCom since early 2020 and will now focus on driving the digital, data and technology transformation agenda for MediaCom’s clients. She will provide clients with strategic consultancy services on matters to digital and data technology.
Clemenger BBDO Sydney appoints creative duo
Clemenger BBDO Sydney has appointed BMF's Chris Wilson and Roy Leibowitz as creative directors. The long-time creative pairing, who bring a combined two decades’ experience, landed in September. They already have work in market, delivering the Xavier Ellis Medal social-driven campaign for WA’s TABtouch to coincide with the AFL Grand Final.
Richard McGowan announces his retirement
Richard McGowan, who currently looks after the public face of IPG Mediabrands, will retire later this year. He is a former head of global communications at Young & Rubicam, based in New York for six years. IPG Mediabrands Australia CEO Mark Coad: "Richard has excelled in a long career in corporate communications and journalism. He has been our media relations and corporate communications consultant for almost 20 years and his work even predates the formation of Mediabrands."
Geraint Davies joins GAMURS Group
Geraint Davies joined esports and entertainment media network GAMURS Group as chief operating officer. Most recently, he worked as chief operating officer at iHeartRadio in Australia. In the newly-created role, Davies will manage the operations of GAMURS, crafting and leading the strategic direction of the company. He says it's an exciting time in the group's development: “The lines between computer games, movies, sports and entertainment are rapidly merging. With a powerhouse of online brands in each of these sectors, the group is ideally positioned to continue its fast profit growth and global audience reach.”
OzTam names new chairman
Mark Buckman has been appointed independent chairman of OzTam. Buckman has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, advertising, and business transformation. He has previously held executive, advisory, and board roles at companies including Accenture Interactive, Foxtel, and Telstra. Buckman begins his new role in November, working with OzTam’s leadership team and board to help the company navigate transformations in the industry.
Publicis Sapient appoints federal government lead
Digital business transformation company Publicis Sapient announced the appointment of Mark Williams as its federal government lead in Australia. Publicis Sapient managing director Australia Claire Rawlins says Williams "is ideally suited to bring Publicis Sapient’s laser focus on citizen-centric digital transformation for federal government clients and to differentiate us as a new and viable alternative in the market".
Three new creatives at Clemenger BBDO
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne appointed Huei Yin Wong as senior art director alongside Ellie Dunn and Tom Vizard as senior copywriters. Dunn returns to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne following a stint at Leo Burnett.
Havas Media Group names new CFO
Havas Media Group Australia appointed Sebastien Leblanc CFO, effective immediately. Leblanc replaces Philippe Tia, who moved to London to take on the role of global CFO for Havas agency Edge Performance Network (EPN).
Publicis Groupe strengthens regional creative leadership
Key hires for the Publicis Groupe regional creative team: Laurent Thevenet is Head of Creative Technology for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Anna Tomasetti is Creative Community Manager, APAC & MEA. Barbara Messer joins as Head of Creative PR, APAC & MEA. They report to Natalie Lam, Chief Creative Officer, APAC & MEA. Tomasetti and Messer are based in Australia, Thevenet in Singapore.
The Edge boosts creative and commercial leadership
DAB+ station The Edge has appointed Marty Doyle as head of content and Andy Walsh as head of commercial strategy. Doyle has more than 15 years in the music industry, working with top music and cultural organisations including the Mushroom Group, Inertia Music, Modular, Sydney Festival, FBi Radio, Vice and Red Bull. Walsh has pioneered campaigns with the world's biggest brands and artists, collecting Cannes Lions and Clio’s industry awards for his work along the way. His major collaborations include Brian Eno, Childish Gambino, Grimes, Nike, Microsoft and Red Bull.
Outbrain makes series of hires
Outbrain has made a series of new hires across its APAC team, including a new director for its multi-channel programmatic DSP Zemanta. In its Sydney office, Megan Hourston steps in as sales manager and Lachlan Moon steps in as a new account manager. In its Singapore office, Efydayana Aditijawarman has been appointed customer success manager and Dawn Chan has been appointed APAC director.
