CMO Andy Lark exits Foxtel
After serving less than 10 months in the role, CMO Andy Lark is exiting Foxtel. Larkin who previously was a Commbank marketer will be leaving making way for REA Groups Kieren Cooney who will ste into the CMO role. Joining Cooney will be Alice Mascia who will head the new product and strategy group.
Australia Post appoint new CMO
Australia Post has appointed former Officeworks marketer Karl Winther to the newly created CMO role. Winther has spent the past six years as the national marketing manager at Officeworks where he oversaw the launch of its new tagline ‘Make bigger things happen’. Winther also previously spent more than a decade with Myer where he worked across marketing strategy, advertising and merchandise buying. This appointment follows news of former News Corp chief digital officer Nicole Sheffield joining Australia Post as its executive general manager, community and consumer.
Fiorella Di Santo resigns from Bauer Media
Bauer Media’s general manager of publishing Fiorella Di Santo has resigned. Di Santo began her career at Bauer Media in 2016 as sales director where she led the integration of the print and digital advertising sales team. Prior to her role at Bauer she spent 20 years at News Corp Australia. Her resignation follows news this week that Cosmopolitan Australia will close at the end of this year.
The Works reveals new managing partners
The Works has appointed Paul Swann and Tom Harber to the newly created roles of managing partner. Swann has been a creative partner at the agency for the past six years and developed work for accounts including Optus, Jim Beam and Unilever. He was previously managing partner at Naked. Harber joined The Works in 2014 as creative project leader and group account director for Jim Beam globally and has worked for brands such as Optus and Canadian Club. The pair will now be responsible for day to day operations including creative outputs, business development and finance.
Mars Food Australia appoint new marketing director
Mars Food Australia have hired Bronwyn Powell as its new marketing director. Powell will head its portfolio of brands – Masterfoods, Uncle Bens, Dolmio, Kan Tong. She has more than 25 years’ experience in senior leader FMCG roles in blue chip companies, retail and Quick Service Restaurants including Snackfoods, George Weston Foods, SPC Ardmona, McDonald’s Australia, Oporto & Yum! Restaurants International.
Ebiquity Australia and New Zealand change management
Richard Basil-Jones, the current managing director for Ebiquity Australia/New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region, will be taking the position of global president for the Ebiquity Group and relocating to London. Basil-Jones has been a senior member of the executive team for six years. In his new role he will take on global responsibilities encompassing the regions (North America, Europe and Asia Pacific) as well as the Ebiquity practices – media analytics, tech and ad intel. Taking on the role of managing director for Australia and New Zealand will be Peter Cornelius. Cornelius has been in the role for three years and will now be responsible across all Ebiquity services and drive further growth across the business.
Meltwater promotes senior leaders
Cimon Constantine has taken the reigns of Meltwater ANZ as the media intelligence business continues to grow. He will be taking over the ANZ area director role to continue to support this rapid growth and new client wins including American Express, Greenpeace, GSK, Singapore Airlines, G Squared and TradeMe. Constantine joined the company in 2012 as a social media consultant and was most recently the managing director. His new role will see him managing operations across both Australia and New Zealand and lead the new client success team. With the appointment of Constantine, David Hickey has taken on the role of director of strategy APAC. He will focus on operational alignment, culture and strategic growth of the company across the region.
Wilbury joins Mamamia
Mamamia have appointed Howard Wilbury to lead its premium partner division M+. Howard’s background spans both media owners and creative agencies, with stints at Westfield, DDB and M&C Saatchi. His most recent role was leading a full-service creative and production agency within the M&C Saatchi Group. He joins as Mamamia ramps up its sales focus with new hire of Tony Prentice and a bold 2019 strategy.
Nine appoints director of effectiveness
Nine has hired Jonathan Fox in the newly created role of director of effectiveness, with a brief to prove the return on an advertiser’s investment when partnering with Nine and 9Powered. Fox was most recently head of effectiveness at Ebiquity where he played a key role in the marketing and media consultancy’s landmark Payback Australia Study, which comprehensively examined the effectiveness of different media channels and unequivocally proved the power of television and premium online video for advertisers. Fox has been at Ebiquity for the past three and half years and prior to that he was an econometrician in the UK with marketing effectiveness agency Holmes & Cook. His addition comes as Nine reveals its 2019 content strategy.
Antill leaves J. Walter Thompson
Kieran Antill has departed from J. Walter Thompson Melbourne to ‘focus on his family and outside interests’. Antill spent three years with the agency as its executive creative director and prior to that he worked for Leo Burnett New York where he was a managing partner and executive creative director for two years. His departure comes seven months after the agency lost its long-standing account, Vegemite, and six months after CHE Proximity won its client RACV. JWT Melbourne have said a plan is in place for the future structure of the creative department, which will be announced in due course.
