Turnbull government eyes media reform

Media reform is back on the agenda with the Turnbull government looking to reintroduce its reform package into parliament this week, according to reports in The Australian.

The government is looking to change the reach rule and the two out of three cross media ownership laws as part of its package. It is thought the bill will be put to a communications backbench committee and then to the coalition party room.

Seven scores more than $120 million in Olympic ad revenue

Seven Network is thought to have scored between $120 million and $130 million in advertising from its Olympic coverage, according to The Australian.

It is thought that the network will be meeting with major advertisers this week to look at the results from its Olympics coverage. Big name advertisers including Woolworths, Telstra, McDonald's, Harvey Norman, Optus and Toyota advertised with the network during the coverage.

Stan Grant rumoured to join 60 minutes

The Australian is also reporting that Sky News and NITV presenter Stan Grant has been in contact with Network Nine about a role with Sky News. The program is looking to replace former reporter Michael Usher who left for a role at Network 7 earlier this month.

Leo Burnett spruiks brand purpose

Leo Burnett Sydney CEO Pete Bosilkovski has told the Australian Financial Review that brands are no longer just selling products but are “driving purpose” and solving problems.

The agency was recently ranked number 14 in BRW's 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2016.

Bosilkovski says that nowadays agencies solve problems by creating a new service or creating a new technology, such as its BrainBand product designed for Samsung,
