MasterChef eats reality rivals for breakfast

MasterChef is still cooking with gas, maintaining its lead on other reality shows on the TV circuit, despite failing to crack the one million audience mark according to the preliminary OzTAM overnight figures

The Network Ten broadcast two episodes of the cooking series last night, picking up viewers over the time slot, with its first episode pulling in 926,000 viewers and the second hitting 999,000, across the five metro markets.

However Channel Ten has noted that on confirmed times the show reached 1 million viewers for its second episode, peaking at 1.21 million.

Both episodes of MasterChef also picked up the top two program spots across key demographics 16-39, 18-49, and 25-54.

Nine's Reno Rumble pulled in 766,000 viewers, and hit the third spot across all demos.

Seven's best non-news program of the night was Home and Away which slid into the top ten programs with 756,000 sets of eyeballs.

However the Nine network saw 28.4% share across the network, with 20.9 points drawn from the main channel.

Nine News was the most-watched program with 1.04 million viewers. Nine News at 6.30 was in third place with 1.002 million.

In comparison, the Seven network brought home a 26.3% share with its main channel contributing 17.9 points.

Ten hit a 23.6% share with its main channel contributing 17.9 points, while the ABC network total reached 16.2% with 11.7 points coming from its main channel.
