Marketing is the difference between a company thriving and failing, according to the founder of The Marketing Academy leadership programme Sherilyn Shackell. All business should want their next generation to be the best they can be and learn from those at the top of their game – by improving marketing, and improving leadership, businesses improve.
Speaking Last week at The Marketing Academy Showcase, an event that saw the cohort of 30 future marketing leaders that graduated from the first year of the Australian programme present learnings about leadership to a room of 800 marketers in Sydney, Shackell talked about the need for better marketers, and better leaders, to grow Australian business.
“We're passionate about excellence in marketing and passionate about leadership,” she told the room.
“Marketing is the absolute, fundamental growth driver. It can be perceived as not being so, but we absolutely believe that fantastic marketing will make a difference between companies thriving, and companies failing.
“It's a very difficult time, the digital age as its called means there is more complexity in the market, there is mind blowing technology around, there are many things that get in the way of good marketing, but at its best, it is the single thing that makes a difference – great marketing is what we're passionate about. We're also passionate about leadership, but the other growth driver in business is the quality and the calibre of the leadership within it.”
The Marketing Academy was also fundamental in the AANA's recent UK exhange trip which saw 15 Australian marketers visit the UK for a week-long knowledge sharing and learning trip. Read the full feature here.
