Thirty of the most dynamic young marketers, media and advertising execs from the likes of Telstra, CUB, Match Media, GroupM and Clemenger have made it through to the first Australian Marketing Academy Leaders programme.
The programme is designed to skill up mid-level professionals to prepare them to become future business leaders and board members.
The 30 execs were selected from 200 nominees after participating in a rigorous three-stage process.
Throughout the nine-month programme, they will experience one-to-one mentoring, executive coaching, lectures, learning sessions, and two residential Boot Camp events with international speakers and leaders from the Australian business community.
The first event, the Boot Camp, starts on 23 February with a five day residential event at Manly’s Q Station.
There are more than 50 senior mentors from Australia’s business community including; Guy Russo, CEO at Kmart Corporation; Maile Carnegie, MD at Google (Aus/NZ); Mark Hassell, chief customer officer at Virgin Australia; Andrew Baxter, CEO at Publicis Worldwide Australia; Megan Brownlow, executive director at PWC; Philip Lynch, MD Pacific at Johnson & Johnson, and Sudeep Gohil, CEO at Droga5.
Marketing Academy founder and CEO Sherilyn Shackell announced the final 30 at an event in Sydney yesterday congratulating them and welcoming them to the programme.
“Gifting their time is a wonderful thing to do for the next generation,” she said. “Being a good leader isn’t just about leadership – it’s about how many good leaders you can create,” she said.
“The calibre of applicants was extremely high. We were privileged to see many individuals who showed exceptional talent, determination and skill throughout the selection process. It was a tough process for all applicants and we commend everyone who took part.”
