J Walter Thompson Sydney has named Jenny Willits as managing director and has picked up the creative account for Nikon.

Willits joined JWT in 2012 and was previously general manager of the agency. Her new role follows the promotion of former CEO John Gutteridge who continues to oversee the Australian and New Zealand businesses, but was moved to lead the network's Asia Pacific business.

The move comes as the agency picks up the strategic and the creative work for Nikon, following a competitive pitch.

JWT will start working with the brand in Q3 this year, with its first project focused on the launch of its KeyMission 350, a wearable action camera.

Willits says: “We’re delighted to welcome Nikon to our expanding client roster. They have an amazing array of upcoming launches which will clearly position the brand at the forefront of the next evolution in photography. KeyMission 360 is evidence of that.

"The solutions we create will need to be just as innovative if we are to cut through the indifferences in the category and stimulate the creative photography market. It's a great challenge and we’re looking forward to solving it as Nikon’s creative agency partner.”
