Jetstar: more than cheap.

Jetstar has appointed J. Walter Thompson Melbourne to be its Australian creative agency partner, after a competitive pitch process that commenced last October.

The move sees Qantas’ budget airline end its 11 year relationship with Ted Horton and his agency Big Red.

J Walter Thompson Melbourne’s MD, Michael Godwin said: “Jetstar is a brand that exists to help make the world more accessible to more people, every day. What a wonderful platform to build inspiring, motivating communications upon.”

Jetstar is said to have met with a number of agencies during the pitch process.

The win for also comes after the announcement the agency has lured back Kieran Antill from Leo Burnett as executive creative director.

Last year J Walter Thompson acquired a majority stake in Sydney-based digital agency Webling Interactive and brought on new clients including Kinetic Super.

Big Red recently took on the retail business for Optus following a roster shake-up.
