Supermarket chain IGA is on the look out for a new creative agency, AdNews understands.

Several large agencies are said to be vying for the business, which puts incumbent creative agency Creative Oasis on alert.

The creative pitch could have been spurred by the recent appointment of McDonald's marketing director Madeleine Fitzpatrick, who took up a role at IGA's parent company Metcash, as general manager of marketing last year.

Metcash is a wholesale distribution and marketing company with brands Mitre 10, Cellarbrations, Autobarn and IGA in its stable.

It is not clear if IGA Liquor is also apart of the pitch.

According to Nielsen IGA's estimated main media spend for Jan – Dec 2014 was $20.7 million.

All agencies contacted refused to comment.
