McDonald’s marketing director Madeleine Fitzpatrick is leaving the fast food giant to join Metcash.
She will take on the general manager of marketing role. The top marketing spot at Metcash has been vacant since Michelle Teague left the role in March.
As part of its IGA supermarket marketing, Metcash is running early trials of targeted in-store messaging using wifi beacons.
Fitzpatrick has been VP/director of marketing at McDonald's since 2010. Previously she was with Kellogg. Mcdonald's is currently recruiting for the role and Fitzpatrick is understood to be remaining at McDonald’s for several months.
A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Madeleine has been a tremendous contributor to our business and we wish her well as she continues her career."
Metcash is a retail, wholesale and distribution company that supplies more than $13 billion worth of goods to independent retail brands including IGA supermarkets, Bootle-O liquor stores and Autobarn.
Food and grocery is the company’s largest channel.
