NewsLifeMedia dominated at the Australian Magazine Awards this morning, with Delicious taking out the top award, Magazine Brand of the Year.
From Delicious’ beginnings as the first celebrity chef magazine 15 years ago, it has evolved to a food and lifestyle platform. Led by editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum, the publication underwent a redesign last year which saw a new online destination be created and an expansion into my lifestyle content.
"Delicious demonstrated a strong brand and smart tactical strategy to future proof its audience, find a new demographic and build a platform fit for the future," the judges said.
"It really diversified itself online which is something many brands are scared to do."
Alicia Spyrou, communications leader at Procter & Gamble, the presenting partner of the AMA's says: "It’s exciting to see a brand continuing to grow by understanding and evolving to meet the needs of its audience. It’s an honour to present the Magazine Brand of the Year Award to the Delicious team. Congratulations!"
Delicious also took out the U-Turn award, with its publisher NewsLifeMedia achieving six awards overall.
Rival publisher Bauer Media won four awards at this year’s AMAs, with Gourmet Traveller winning Food Magazine Brand of the Year.
GroupM CEO and chairman of the judges Mark Lollback says: “The winners of this year’s Australian Magazine Awards are among the most innovative media brands in Australia. They each demonstrated persistent innovation in creating deeper and more engaging relationships with their readers, now spread across a number of platforms, and great creativity in working with advertisers to help them achieve their objectives.
“It’s encouraging to see such great examples of media owners adapting and strengthening their position in a challenging environment and I congratulate all the finalists and winners.”
This year's Hall of Fame entrant has placed a pivotal role in the success of the NewsLifeMedia business and is one of the few women to transcend the glass ceiling of the publishing industry.
Nicole Sheffield became the seventh person to enter the AMA Hall of Fame. You can read more on Sheffield here.
