Clems Sydney and Stayz urge Turnbull to put Kirribilli House on rental market

In an audaciously clever move orchestrated by Clemenger BBDO, holiday home rental site Stayz has got in touch with new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to urge him to put the now-vacant Kirribilli House on the site for the general public.

Turnbull opted against living in the traditional second residence of the Australian Prime Minister, preferring to stay in his current Point Piper home. This leaves the attractive Kirribilli House as valuable - and empty - real estate.

Stayz opened the dialogue with a tweet which looked to gently urge the PM to list the property. To save the new incumbent the time - after all, Turnbull must be up to his eyeballs at the moment - Stayz even ran up an online listing for him.

The ad describes the house as a "Stunning harbourside mansion fit for a King/PM" and, unlike all the other listings on the site, this property boasts "A friendly and highly dedicated Secret Intelligence Service professional named Barry".

Those intimidated by the potential threat of nuclear apocalypse might want to give this house a miss though, being as it also features a "Big Red Button". That's not all that relaxing when you're trying to kick back on your holidays.

“We pride ourselves on being able to offer thousands of unique holiday rentals, and Kirribilli House is certainly unique. We hate to see empty houses and this one’s a cracker," said Stayz marketing director, David Dunstan.

"It’s in a prime location, big enough for the whole family and it’s empty, so why not we say? We know Malc is rather busy at the moment, but hopefully it will be available to rent soon.”

Users of the site got in on the parody, leaving their own humorous reviews with tongues so far in cheek they were practically bursting out. Paul Nagy, executive creative director of Clemenger BBDO Sydney, is hopeful Turnbull can take a joke.

“This is a simple, topical idea guaranteed to get attention. And it cost as little as a page listing and a single tweet. Here's hoping Malcolm is a good sport," said Nagy.
