The Big Picture panel at the Media Summit, did exactly what is said it would on the packet, it looked at what was going on in the media industry, and it's definitely a busy time.
The expert panel looked at everything from the cost of sports rights to the issue of government regulation and media laws and how those regulations effects the market.
Henry Tajer, global CEO and executive chairman for IPG Mediabrands Australia touched on many of these issues as well as talking about market consolidation, and how the Australian media landscape needs it in order to flourish.
“Will we see Seven buy Nine or Nine buy Seven? That's the sort of consolidation the market probably needs to go through for the market to have strong viable media organisations that can then still continue to produce their own content.
“Otherwise we may as well become a grey market media sector where everything is imported,” he said.
