The journey to next summer's Ashes contest has begun with two star players walking across their respective nations.
Australian cricket captain Steven Smith and English all rounder Stuart Broad star in the first promotion of this summer's hotly-anticipated Ashes series.
In the spot, Smith and Broad walk past some iconic Australian and British sights, garnering support with each leg of their respective journey's towards the fall ball of the series.
Created by M&C Saatchi Melbourne, the campaign, 'Our Greatest Test', aims to evoke the passion and history of cricket's most revered rivalry.
The TV advertisement was filmed in locations including Bondi Beach, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Alice Springs.
The voice over for the TV ad is by former Australian captain Steve Waugh.
“There is no sporting rivalry quite like the Ashes in bringing our nation together in support of the 11 players who take to the field, and our advertising campaign for the series brings this to life,” says Ben Amarfio, Cricket Australia's executive general manager of broadcasting, digital media and Commercial.
Paul Taylor, executive creative director of M&C Saatchi Melbourne adds: “After talking to the players, you get a real sense of what they are playing for, it’s not for themselves, it’s actually for all of us.”
The first TV ad of the campaign began airing yesterday. Additional print, radio, outdoor and digital advertisements will roll out across the country in the lead up to the series.
The 2017-18 Ashes Series begins at Brisbane's The Gabba from 23 November.
