Brisbane locals are invited to come, play and perform, with digital pianos popping up around Brisbane for the Queensland Music Festival (QMF).
The Keys to the City campaign, by outdoor company Goa, will run from July 17 until August 2, with pods of pianos animating more than 40 public spaces across the city, to celebrate the festival.
Passerbys are invited to walk up and play, or the more-prepared can book spots online. Performances can be recorded and uploaded to social media using the hashtag #keystothecity.
During the 17 days of the QMF, scheduled performances by professional and celebrity pianists will feature alongside local Brisbane players.
The campaign will conclude in a grand finale at Rainforest Green, South Bank where selected pianists will join Jazz pianist Marian Petrescu, the Voice 2012 semi-finalist Fatai and QMF artistic director James Morrison for a free concert.
Morrison said the event is designed to build a shared community experience through music.
“Through Keys to the City, I hope people are touched by the beauty and power of music,” Morrison said. “I hope it makes people smile, hum a tune as they go about their day and gets people having some fun.”
“QMF is dedicated to engaging with and uniting communities across Queensland and Keys tot he City is an exciting, new way of connecting with the people of Brisbane through music.”
