Battling it out on the Gold Coast.
Thinkerbell has launched its inaugural Jetstar Classic, dubbed the world’s most amateur surf competition, where three of Australia’s least skilled surfers battled it out on the Gold Coast.
Jetstar put the call out far and wide across Australia but for those who couldn’t surf - or had never even stepped foot in the ocean - and three everyday Australians were selected from a diverse group of hopefuls.
The event wasn’t about catching the biggest waves but having a laugh and capturing the true spirit of Australia’s love for the beach – even if you’ve got no idea how to navigate it.
Under the watchful eyes of professional surfers, Vaughan Blakey and Jesse Starling, the three surfing novices took to the waves for the first time, giving their all in the hopes of winning the grand prize.
Thinkerbell head thinker Belle Thompson said the Jetstar Classic was a celebration of having a go and enjoying the ride, no matter your skill level.
"With the lowest airfares and incredible destinations, Jetstar have made it easier than ever to pack your bags and get outta here," she said.
After the judges deliberated one contestant emerged victorious, securing a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Hawaii.
