The simple act of staring at a zoo animal can be a much-needed circuit breaker to the concerns of daily life.
Audio specialist agency Eardrum has created a warmly offbeat holiday campaign for Zoos Victoria.
The two ads, performed by actor Kate Box, present a light-hearted turn around for a parent worrying about too much screen time, and a child dealing with the social pressures of school. The simple act of staring at a zoo animal can be a much-needed circuit breaker to the concerns of daily life.
Brendan Dodd, Zoos Victoria GM of marketing, says Eardrum challenged the zoo to be less literal and focus on the emotional benefits of visiting the zoo.
"The result is a charming, relatable campaign that’s bound to stand out on air," he says.
Ralph van Dijk, founding creative director of Eardrum, says we all know what we’ll see at the zoo, but we take for granted how it makes us feel.
“It’s such a unique way to reconnect with nature and tune out the human world for a blissful moment," he says.
The campaign will be heard on Victorian radio stations throughout the summer holidays.
