DIY and you may die is the latest message from Energy Safe Victoria.
Redhanded has launched a confronting, electrical safety campaign for Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) with a simple message DIY and die.
The ad takes a Dexter-style approach, with tools and coffee falling in slow motion as a man is electrocuted.
It aims to inform the average handyman that they shouldn't attempt to fix an electrical fault, it should always be left to a qualified tradie.
The campaign follows two deaths in Victoria earlier this year, both related to water and electricity. A 21-year-old Yarroweyah man and a 75-year-old man in the Geelong area both died attempting to fix pumps.
“Water and electricity can be a fatal combination. Damaged or poorly maintained equipment can kill,” Neil Fraser from ESV said.
ESV is targeting farmers, launching in metro and regional areas, with the message that doing your own electrical work is not only illegal, it can be fatal.
The campaign with air across TV, cinema, outdoor and a full page in The Weekly Times.
