What would happen to your family if you were attacked by a bunch of dinosaurs?
As unlikely as it may be, what's your plan if you were suddenly attacked by dinosaurs one day? That's the question being posed by Allianz Insurance in a new spot from creative agency Mercer Bell.
Given the brief to talk about life insurance, the ad shows a scenario when one could plausibly talk about what would happen to one's family if you were taken out.
A kid, playing with his toy dinosaurs, begins to ask what would happen to his dad if he were suddenly grabbed by a Pterodactyl, dropped to the ground, stomped on by a big herd of other dinosaurs and then eaten by a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Would he still be able to look after his family?
We have no first-hand experience with dinosaur attacks, but we're guessing not.
It was one way the brand could talk about life insurance in a non-awkward, non-confrontational, and approachable way.
“Life Insurance can be a tricky [and an] awkward topic to broach, let alone sell. The team have created something out of the ordinary with a really fresh way to get around the sensitivities this subject can bring,” executive creative director at Mercer Bell David Bell said.
The TV ad launched over the weekend and is being supported by online and print.
