Schweppes is to launch a TV campaign next Wednesday featuring former MasterChef Australia contestants.
Commercials created by George Patterson Y&R Melbourne, will only run around MasterChef. One of them features Katie Pepper, who gained notoriety for burning a fish curry on the show. The campaign promotes the brand’s range of mixers with the strapline: “You don’t have to be a master chef to mix at home.”
George Patterson Y&R executive creative director Ben Coulson said: “We went on a hunt to find the MasterChef contestants who had only lasted an episode or two. There were a few surprised people when they got a call from our producers.”
Schweppes marketing manager for sparkling beverages Ellie Vince told AdNews: “The message is simple: you don’t have to be a skilled bartender to mix a good drink.”
