The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Victoria has launched a new public safety campaign to mark the 40th anniversary of the introduction of mandatory seatbelts.
Harnessing the popularity of the AFL, the TAC has teamed up with Essendon Football Club, with the team changing their red sash to an image of a seatbelt on their uniforms for the Friday 13 August match against Collingwood.
The face of the campaign is Essendon player David Haille, who was saved by a seatbelt 12 years ago in a car accident that killed three of his friends.
The TV campaign is supported by print, outdoor, radio and online advertising.
The TAC has also teamed up with Melbourne A-League team Victory in a similar partnership.
