Enigma lands finance client

NEWCASTLE: Regional advertising agency Enigma has landed one of its biggest clients after a three-way creative pitch.

Newcastle Permanent Building Society has handed its $3 million advertising account to the Newcastle agency and charged it with the task of defining its marketing strategy and creative execution.

The Building Society has been without a dedicated agency for the past few months, but prior to this used Sydney strategic shop Igloo.

Enigma pitched against fellow Newcastle agency Peach and Sydney outfit Belgiovane Williams Mackay to land the business.

Lisa Sutton, managing director of Enigma, said the account is one of the largest held by the agency and that the win was a victory for advertising agencies across regional Australia.

“This is confirmation that the integrated business we’ve been growing successfully over the past 10 years can compete with established metropolitan agencies, and reinforces the fact that in today’s technology-friendly society, the cost savings and myriad of other benefits of regionally-based agencies are grabbing the attention of corporate Australia,” Sutton said.

Engima also holds the account for steel manufacturing firm OneSteel and the NSW government development arm Landcom.

The Building Society is a 102-year-old brand based in Newcastle and the Hunter Region and has established a presence in the Sydney market over the past four years.
