Today everyone can design. Design thinking has broken down the guild doors. However, just because someone can design does not mean they are a designer. True designers create quality and it is quality that determines outcomes.
That's what Harry West, CEO of global design and strategy firm Frog believes.
West is speaking at Pause Fest 2017, analysing examples of product and digital design and considering how the level of quality evolved as the team received more input from customers and stakeholders and had more time to iterate on the design.
Often that quality finds itself at the centre of a trade-off triangle with time and cost. This keynote will investigate how different levels of investment in design quality are relevant for different competitive contexts i.e. when is the ‘norm’ enough to win and when do organisations have to be distinctly better?
When the answer to that question is typically determined by the customer, creating a quality, people-centred digital experience is the real design challenge.
Now in its sixth year, Pause, will once again be taking over Federation Square, Melbourne, from 8-10 February 2017, bringing with it a program of presentations, panel debates, workshops and experiences from the creative, tech and business industries’ most prolific thought leaders.
In addition to West’s keynote, on Business Day, Pause will also play host to Lucasfilm, The Mill, NASA, AwardSchool, SapientNitro, Clemenger BBDO and hundred more of leading companies. Full programming details and ticket options are available from the website.
