Mamamia has named Zara Curtis as chief content officer (CCO), effective from September.

She will set the strategic content direction for audience growth and lead the Mamamia content team including recently promoted Eliza Sorman-Nilsson (head of content), recently joined Jocelin Abbey (head of audience development), Jessie-Lee Klass (podcast content director), and Harrie Jack (creative director).

Curtis joins Mamamia with 20 years experience across various content, creative and marketing teams including commercial director of News Lifestyle Media, GM of branded entertainment and commercial at Fremantle Productions, and most recently, head of customer experience, brand communications and social impact for IAG.

Mamamia CEO Natalie Harvey said there is so much opportunity for a modern media business like Mamamia and Curtis' diverse experience will be a huge asset for the team as it accelerates into the future.

"Zara will work closely with co-founder Mia Freedman who is moving officially into the Chief Creative Officer role and will continue to work closely with the team as well as hosting No Filter and co-hosting Mamamia Out Loud," she said.

Curtis said she has always been truly inspired by Mamamia’s purpose 'to make the world a better place for women & girls' and she is a passionate believer in the role of independent publishing to authentically deliver on such an important mission.

"Today Mamamia has earned the trust of 7 million Australian women’s ears & eyeballs and is the number one podcast network for women in the world, so for me, I’m fired up and thrilled to be joining Mamamia as Chief Content Officer to really focus on growing audiences across every platform and deepen every single engagement as I lead some of the most talented journalists, producers, and storytellers in the country," she said.
