Pip Morrison: digital account manager at Paramount

Time in current role/time at the company:

I’ve been in my current role for just over a year but at Paramount for two and a half.

How long have you been in the industry?

I started in the media industry two and a half years ago at Paramount as a digital account coordinator.

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?

Like most people I sort of fell into media. I studied Marketing at Uni and was looking for full time work during COVID. One of my friends put me in touch with a group sales manager at Paramount and within the next few weeks I had an interview.

After working in the industry for over two years now I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Who is your right-hand person/who guides you day to day?

When I started as a co-ord, I was very lucky to have an amazing team to support and guide me. Our Melbourne sales office is one-of-a-kind but without a doubt I am guided day-to-day by Sophie Monaco. I’m extremely grateful for the time that she has given me to impart her wisdom and presentation skills, I’d be lost without her! Special shout out to my first GSM, A-Rod as well!

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?

The social and networking aspect is definitely one of the highlights, but the best thing would have to be working in the digital team. I love working in a space that is constantly evolving with data and product developments. Seeing a dynamic or interactive ad product you’ve worked hard on come to life is super cool!

And the biggest challenge?

Being in the digital team! Given the media landscape is shifting towards digital there is so much to keep up with. One of the challenges is educating clients and agencies on our newest ad products or FAST channels, but it’s also what makes it so great.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?

I love the digital and innovation space, so we’ll see where it takes me!

Where do you turn for inspiration?

At work, I lean on my colleagues for inspiration. We have an amazing strategy team who share concepts and ideas from other teams which makes it easy to collaborate.

In my personal life, my friends and family inspire me. I’m also an avid Instagram scroller and Spotify listener.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

I studied and lived in America for six months during University, so I had the full experience of Thanksgiving and an NFL game.

In five years' time, I'll be:

Who knows! Hopefully I’ve progressed in my career and made some more connections along the way.
