Meaghan Lowth: activation manager at Resolution Digital
Time in current role/time at the company:
I started at Resolution Digital near five years ago as an intern. Luckily there was an opening where I was given an assistant role. I’ve since progressed to Activation Manager Activation Manager across OMD & Resolution Digital clients, which I’ve been for the past two years. I’m happy to have managed paid search and programmatic strategies for a diverse range of clients such Village Roadshow Themeparks, National Truck Insurance and Amart meaning I’ve built my performance skillset in B2B, finance, entertainment, and retail.
How long have you been in the industry?
I’ve been in the industry for five years, starting at Resolution Digital and still here! I was lucky enough to start my time in a brilliant team.
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I moved to Brisbane with a high school few friends as a 17-year-old with plans to study Business and Journalism, which I did at UQ. Looking back, I didn’t understand either industry; I initially thought studying Business would lead me to open a small business and Journalism would get me a job in a newsroom. But after a few internships, I fell in love with digital marketing and became laser focused on the field. I felt I didn’t get as deep into understanding marketing as I would have liked to, so enrolled into QUT’s Master in Business, that’s when I learnt more about omnichannel marketing and found the Resolution Digital internship.
Who is your right-hand person/who guides you day to day?
In the day to day, I cannot go past my team, who each have such dedication to their clients’ success. I cannot wait to see what they achieve in their careers.
Next to that, I’ve learnt a lot about leadership from Resolution Digital’s head of Brisbane, Stelios Moudakis. His mentorship over the past year has given me the language and tools which will stick with me for the rest of my career.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
I’d say the thing about this industry that keeps me going is that it puts you into a growth mindset. Each day we’re pushing towards performance growth for our clients. And further to that, we’re also continuously working on building our own skills and that of our team. When you see growth in either (or ideally both) aspects, it’s really something to be proud of and celebrate.
And the biggest challenge?
Perhaps the comfort zone? A little contradictory to my previous answer, but it’s hard to get out of the comfort zone when you’re in it. However, the more I push myself to get outside the comfort zone, the bigger my comfort zone gets!
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I don’t have a specific dream job in sight as I see this industry changing a lot in the future, because of this I tend to plan my own goals with intentions rather than absolutes. What I envision for my dream job is one which allows me to lead an innovative, collaborative and results driven team to deliver stellar performance.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
I enjoy collecting information and learning as much as I possibly can to build inspiration & understanding of new things. I find having conversations with people make the most ‘aha’ moments (which we love). For technical knowledge, I’ll turn to articles & podcasts as they offer current information from a range of industries - two topics I’m obsessed with at the moment are omni-shopping behaviour and AI news. When I need personal motivation, I turn to a vision board on my desk which is made of an arrangement of notes from my broader team, written as part of a team exercise late last year.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
If an “end cute” (opposite of meet cute) existed, I’d have a great one. The end of my year as internship coordinator aligned with the graduation for my Masters. This meant for the most accidental, wholesome occurrence as the two interns which went through the program in my time walked the same stage.
In five years' time I'll be…
Passing on the knowledge and skills I’ve built throughout my career, while continuing to learn.
