Our Young Guns profile takes a weekly look at some of the young talent across the advertising, ad tech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.
Today we speak to Locate by Ooh! group sales manager Lanai Stanger.
How long have you been in the industry?
Just on four years.
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I made a decision to leave my role as a GM for Event Cinemas to pursue a career in an
industry that would appease my creative spirit, stretch my strategic thinking and benefit
from my sales skills. The result - a role as an account manager for a media company
which I love.
Who is your right hand person/who guides you day to day?
I am fortunate enough to have amazing people who I work with at oOh!, including our
Group Director Locate by oOh!, Adam Cadwallader, who has supercharged my growth.
oOh!’s Strategic Partnership Director for oOh! Fly, Bel Harper has also been a great
mentor.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
No day is ever the same and change is a constant in the Out of Home sector, especially
when it comes to oOh! who continues to evolve the oldest media into a new media player.
And the biggest challenge?
One of the biggest challenges, is also one of the best things about my role - the constant
change as Out of Home continues to evolve into an even more powerful medium.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
Right now my current focus is developing and growing within my current role at oOh!.
However being ambitious, I have a desire to be much more influential in this industry and
to operate in a more strategic and consultative role that is focussed on helping marketers
deliver the best outcomes for their business.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
I love to read about all things business and leadership. A good go to for me is The Game
Changers which gives words of wisdom from some of the worlds most influential female
leaders. Also a good gym work out often puts me in an inspired mindset.
My favourite advert is (and why):
I am a bit of a sucker for tearjerker creative, but the uniqueness and simplicity of the Lyft
Car Sound Remix campaign, where five of its cars had some neon lights attached and
synchronised with the horns, headlights and alarms belted out top tunes from 2017 throughout New York in the lead up the Grammys. Closer to home I am loving the Amex brand campaign running across the oOh! ecosystem including cool social content by the team at Junkee Media.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
While I now have long straight hair, I used to have a massive blonde fro.
In five years time I'll be:
Killing it at oOh! ... I’ll be leading an incredibly talented team of people who help brands
really engage audiences through innovative Out of Home solutions.
