Ben Thomas: business manager, revenue and growth at oOh!media
Time in current role/time at the company:
Just ticked over two and half years at oOh! and a year and nine months in this role.
How long have you been in the industry?
oOh! is where I have kick started my career, so just over two and a half years.
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I, like every other uni student, had no plan whatsoever. With my whole family having worked or working in the media industry, it was a major point of discussion at the dinner table. So, when the time came to step into the real world, media sounded fun to say the least.
Who is your right hand person/who guides you day to day?
Professionally, Jacqueline Ingram, group sales leader at oOh! is my day-to-day go to. Jac hired me and has been my coach, critic and sounding board. Safe to say I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. And personally, as much as it irks me to say, my brother. Let’s say 'guide' is a loose term, but a bit of lip and advice always goes a long way from him.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
The people without a doubt. The industry is filled with incredible people that I enjoy working with and learning from every day. The fast-paced nature of the business keeps you on your toes and having the opportunity to ideate and present new ideas to clients is something truly unique.
And the biggest challenge?
It's also the people without a doubt. However, it's the people who give us the opportunity to find new avenues and solutions to overcome a given challenge. When a challenge is overcome, the energy and support from those around you makes you want to do it all over again.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
Straight to the top, watch out Siggy - Paul Sigaloff, chief revenue and growth officer, oOh!.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
My old man. He challenges, motivates, supports and assures me in everything I do. He honestly helps me in more ways than he can imagine.
