Amy McCann: Senior social media manager at One Green Bean.
Time in current role:
I have been at ogb for 5 years in total, it was my first job out of University.
How long have you been in the industry?
5 years. I did a stint overseas in between my time at ogb.
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I’m a big believer in the power of social - growing up in the age of Tumblr fandom and seeing the birth of Instagram - it’s something I knew I wanted to harness. I completed a degree in Digital and Social Media at UTS, interned at The Urban List, We Are Social, and Channel 10, and finally returned to a job at ogb.
Who is your right-hand person?
When I’m WFH it’s my two cats, Rosie and Elton, who love to join a Teams call. But when we’re in the office my right-hand gal has to be Nada Duyker. She’s my go-to for sounding off new TikTok trends, brainstorming lunch locations and asking for the next hottest influencer.
What is the best thing about the industry you work in?
It keeps you on your toes. Social is so fast moving, it can be hard to keep up with the next-big-thing. You’ve just explained to the client why Corn is a trend and suddenly it’s not any more. On the other hand - it keeps work exciting. Who knows what Facebook Meta is going to do next?
And the biggest challenge?
The rapid ever changing social media landscape.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
Simone Gupta - our CEO. She’s the epitome of cool, calm, and collected on the outside - while managing multiple agencies in the Havas Village and twins at home!
Or the person who gets to paint Harry Styles’ nails.
