Our Young Gun profile takes a look at some of the young talent across the advertising, adtech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.
Today we speak to Revolution360 account manager Phoebe Kafataris.
Time in current role/time at the company:
In role: one and a half years. At company: two and a half years.
How long have you been in the industry?
I started in media in 2015 in print and premium magazine asset syndication. I spoke to a lot of celebrity agents and photographers (OMG).
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
After travelling overseas for almost 4 months I saw a job ad on LinkedIn for a campaign coordinator. After applying, I had a job interview the following week and the rest is history!
I have never had a “plan” (except for lunch).
Who is your right-hand person?
My manager Sean, who I need (and probably annoy) on the daily.
What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
This industry is so fast paced, and no day is ever the same. There is a huge social aspect as well so there are lots of friends to be made along the way.
And the biggest challenge?
Staying ahead of the game (and anything that involves maths or calculations).
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I try not to plan too far ahead; I’ve always preferred to just be surprised and run with it!
Where do you turn for inspiration?
Social media is hugely inspiring, despite how overwhelming it can be. There are so many content creators of all sizes out there who are generating never before seen original content and branding. It’s a great place to learn from and get daily inspo.
My favourite advert is:
How can you not love the Yellow Pages “Not Happy Jan” ad. It is still something I quote to this day.
Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
I learnt ‘Whip It’ on guitar hero on level expert and could play it with my eyes closed.
In five years’, time I'll be:
Watch this space!
