WPP has retained long-time global client BP, forming a new bespoke 'Team Energy' to manage the account.
It calls the new venture a fully integrated marketing services model, which will provide marketing communication services for BP's corporate, fuels and Castrol businesses globally.
The decision follows a competitive review process which began in mid-2017.
Team Energy will provide services including advertising, media investment management, digital media, marketing communication and branding services, public relations and brand research and will draw on talent from agencies such as VML, Ogilvy, Mindshare, Grey, Essence, SocialLabs and Landor.
EnergyMedia, housed within Team Energy, will also combine talent from across Mindshare, Essence, Neo and Possible.
The main office will be located in London, with hub office locations around the world to support BP’s business globally.
“BP has enjoyed a highly successful relationship with WPP and we appreciate its exceptional partnership throughout the last 20 years," BP group head of communications and external affairs Geoff Morrell says.
"This has led to some iconic work – not least the development of BP’s Helios logo and a series of award-winning advertising campaigns.
"As we enter the third decade of our relationship, we have agreed on a completely new way of working to enable easy access to the best talent and ideas that WPP has to offer. We are excited by the possibilities this creates.”
