Melbourne-based creative agency Wellmark has appointed Dr Candice O’Sullivan managing director.

O’Sullivan, formerly a medical practitioner, began her time at Wellmark in 2006 as a writer, but her subsequent career has primarily been spent in strategy.

She takes over from Michael Smith, who is leaving Wellmark after nine  years in the role.

As Wellmark’s head of strategy and planning for many years, Dr O’Sullivan has developed and implemented marketing communications and brand strategy for some of Australia’s leading healthcare organisations.

These have included the Australian Medical Association, Alfred Health, Austin Health, the National Covid-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce, the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Vision Eye Institute.

"I’ve been part of this company for 17 years, so it’s in my blood," says O’Sullivan.

"I’ve grown and matured alongside Wellmark and am delighted to now lead us into the future. We have an amazing team who will continue to set the bar for what it truly means to deliver quality healthcare communications. Health and care remain our focus; we are passionate about this sector and the role we play in taking care of the brands, people, products and services that serve this industry and take care of all of us.’
