GroupM agency Wavemaker has retained Mitsubishi's $50m media account, after going to pitch earlier this year, AdNews reveals.
The deal isn't complete yet as the agency and client are still outlining contract agreements, AdNews understands.
A Wavemaker spokesperson told AdNews: “Wavemaker are the preferred agency at this stage in the pitch process. The final decision will be made by Mitsubishi Motors later this year.”
Mitsubishi declined to comment.
Wavemaker is a long-term incumbent with Mitsubishi, the companies have worked together for more than 30 years in Australia.
Sam Wight told AdNews in April the account review is part of Mitsubishi’s corporate governance protocols
"We are required to go out to tender periodically on our supplier contracts," Wight said.
“We delayed the tender for our Australian media buying due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have recently resumed the process as a closed tender.”
