Votes are in - your favourite Christmas ad of 2014

By AdNews | 12 January 2015

The people have spoken. At the tail end of the busy season we asked you to wade through all the jolly holly Christmas adverts and tell us which was your favourite. And, despite all the well-deserved praise for Christmas ads from across the pond – such asJohn Lewis – it seems your favourite adverts were little closer to home.

In poll position as most popular Christmas ad in the survey with nearly 30% of the vote was Kikki K's Swedish white Christmas from full-service agency Smart. The nostalgic commercial told the story of the retailer's founder, Kristina Karlsson, who spend her childhood Christmases in snowy Sweden.

In second spot with 21% was Myer's branding push by recently installed creative agency Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

Taking the coveted third place with 18% was Lego's Christmas ad by Ensemble. The broader campaign included a TV, Lego workshops and a giant Lego Christmas tree installed in the middle of Sydney's Pitt Street Mall. And really, who could resist that tree?

In fourth place is Aldi's Christmas campaign by BMF. The television spots introduced us all to the humble citizens of Julbacken, including Johan, a bunch of Christmas carolers and one particularly memorable character who likes French Champagne.

Taking home the fifth spot is David Jones's Christmas campaign by Whybin/TBWA which showed us the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child and brought a collective tear to the Australian people.
