If you like beer, please give a cheer, as Victoria Bitter's ad rhymes, are now back here.

That's the news from Carlton and United Breweries (CUB), who have revived their "timeless" couplet adverts from yesteryear. For over 40 years these ditties burrowed into the Australian consciousness, and not everyone was pleased when the iconic spots - voiced by John Meillon - were mothballed in 2004.

But verses are aimed at purses once again, as Clemenger BBDO launch a new stanza bonanza TV campaign to run during the NRL and AFL grand finals. You might say things have come to a head.

“It’s been 11 years since Victoria Bitter last ran the commercials with this style and after listening long and hard to our loyal drinkers it became obvious we had something that was woven into the Australian consciousness,” said CUB’s Scott Tindall.

Victoria Bitter was relaunched in 2012, returning the classic full flavour of the original brew, so into your fridge you'll delve, to sup a frothy few.

Sorry, it seems this rhyming thing is catching...
