UN LTD, the industry foundation that pairs media and marketing expertise with charities, is ramping up its Mentor program.
Ebony Beaton, former communications manager at Mi9, is to head up the foundation’s Mentor program and communications strategy as UN LTD looks to raise its profile and connect more industry partners with charities.
UN LTD aims to provide funding and support for charities that tackle youth disadvantage in Australia. The aim is for individuals and companies to provide their skills and expertise to charities that need them.
Beaton said: “As an industry we house a set of skills that are hugely valuable to the not-for-profit sector. My role will be to and source the right expertise and match them up with our charity partners to drive success for specific projects.”
“The MENTOR program is about people in the industry working directly with our beneficiaries in a way that compliments, not competes with, day-to-day professional work. UN LTD is thinking differently about how our industry gives back. What was once corporates allocating staff time to one-off ‘volunteering’ or ‘charity work’, has turned into something much more meaningful and mutually beneficial.”
Beaton was behind setting up the partnership between the Mi9 and KidsXpress that also included an ongoing social enterprise project with Leo Burnett.
Carol Morris, general manger of UN LTD claims the mentor program helps provide more than $2.5m worth of marketing services to charity partners each year.
UN LTD is a partner of the AdNews Challenge with 10% of all registration fees and all proceeds from the team fund-raising challenge going to the organisation. If you want to get a team involved in the Challenge, sign up here.
