PHD Australia has announced the appointment of Gemma Beeley to the newly created role of national head of digital.

Beeley joins from UM where she had held the role of head of digital – Sydney.

She joined UM Australia in 2016, after relocating from the UK, where she worked with agencies including Wavemaker (formerly MEC), UM and Maxus.

Beeley said she was focused on leading the future agenda of the agency’s vision in the areas of technology, digital and data and developing transformative ideas for clients.

“PHD clearly breeds a high-performance culture through their freedom and responsibility principles, with exceptional talent working in the business and a roster of impressive clients," she said.

"I am excited to join the team and build on their success through collaboration with the brilliant minds of PHD and the wider OMG business."

She will work closely with the heads of digital in Sydney and Melbourne, leading the continued growth of PHD’s digital offering in market.

Beeley will report to PHD Australia’s Chief Operating Officer Stu Bailey, who had previously headed up the agency’s digital capabilities.

“Gemma is an outstanding digital leader who has not only been a key driver of UM’s digital product but also the wider industry,” Bailey said.

“As part of the MFA digital steering group, I have worked with Gemma and her passion and expertise have always made her stand out. She is the ideal person to continue to drive PHD digital offering, and we are excited to have her join the team.”
