UM Australia has appointed Liam Loan-Lack to general manager of UM Brisbane, as the agency looks to strengthen its presence in the "overlooked" market.

Loan-Lack moves back into a single agency after operating as a group business director for IPG Mediabrands, acting as client lead across both UM and Initiative.

In his previous role, Loan-Lack’s remit was directing a large multidisciplinary client portfolio including Officeworks, ME Bank, ACTU and Specsavers.

Prior to that, he had also held several roles with Initiative in the UK, joining the Australian business in 2015 as a business director for UM out of Melbourne.

“Liam brings a new level of care, smarts and energy to a great market - and much-valued rigour and passion to do the best work for our clients,” UM Australia CEO Fiona Johnston says.

“I think Brisbane is often overlooked as a key market, but we see it very much as a stronghold to innovate and lead.”

In his new role, Loan-Lack will be a key driver in ensuring continued talent development and support for the UM Brisbane team.

Commenting on his appointment, Loan-Lack sasy he's been attracted to the Queensland market for "some time", firmly believing it has the potential to be the "most creative and client-centric" market in Australia.

"In all, I am proud to be leading an already very talented local team and of course, I look forward to the challenge of getting to know the Brisbane market - I will be taking all the lessons, humility and curiosity that has helped build my career so far into this new role," he says.

"By listening intently to clients, media partners and peers I aim to build a unique and ownable space for UM Brisbane.”
