The advertising sales team at Twitter in Australia, now in the shadow of severe global staff cuts, has been performing well.
According to data from Standard Media Index (SMI), local advertising sales have been on a steep curve in the two years to September, and in the latest year to date Twitter is the fifth largest social media platform with around $18 million.
Billionaire Elon Musk’s global axe, slicing Twitter's 7,500 staff numbers by half, has reached Australia, with many in non sales roles being made redundant.
Jane Ractliffe, MD, Australia/NZ at SMI: "Away from the corporate maneuverings, it's clear Twitter's AU ad sales team has been flourishing with Standard Media Index's ad spend data showing stronger demand from TV streaming, smartphone and government advertisers have fuelled a record level of ad revenue onto Twitter this CYTD."
Ractliffe posted the above chart to LinkedIn.
She told AdNews: "We all know many people at Twitter are being sadly affected by a situation well beyond their control, and I simply wanted to highlight the fact that the Twitter team has been doing a great job.
"I hope their strong media skills are recognised by others given many are now looking for new roles."
