Network 10 has exited ThinkTV, leaving just two, Seven and Nine, as members of the industry body.

The revelation comes a few days after the body announced the departure of CEO Kim Portrate.

A statement from the board of directors of ThinkTV then talked of changes to the structure and direction of the industry body.

"In the past decade, the industry has seen rapid change. To accommodate this, the structure and direction of ThinkTV has also shifted," the board of ThinkTV said.

"ThinkTV will continue to champion the benefits of Total TV, and the board will share more details of how the organisation will do this in due course."

However, no official word yet on the viability nor the future of ThinkTV.  AdNews has contacted Nine Entertainment and Seven West Media for comment.

Foxtel's withdrawal from the industry body and its subsequent departure from measuring system OzTAM last year was a catalyst for change.

Insiders say 10 is still firmly committed to Free TV Australia and to measurement body OzTAM.

“We are no longer shareholders of ThinkTV but remain focussed on optimising and deepening collaboration with our fellow broadcasters and existing industry groups to effectively champion the power and importance of Total TV to the advertising market and community,” a 10 spokesperson said.

Changes at ThinkTV had been foreshadowed. Seven West Media CEO Jeff Howard, in announcing December half results, talked about sharing resources across the industry and of the future of the industry body.

“Looking at the industry bodies as well, we want to make sure we're getting the best value … so a lot to do on that front,” he told analysts in a briefing.

10 gave notice to ThinkTV in June 2024, according to insiders. This was to give the organisation time to plan for the withdrawal of financial support.

The network’s financial contribution ended in December.
