Australians don't like cricket, oh no, well, not as much as they like Border Security anyhow.
The latest overnight ratings figures from OzTAM have revealed that Border Security remains popular with the masses, with the reality series taking home the best non-news program for the evening with 905,000 metro viewers tuning in.
The figure was somewhat of a boon for Channel Seven, as it went head-to-head with the T20 clash between Australia and South Africa, the first international of the Australian cricketing summer.
The slog-a-thon attracted 746,000 viewers, while the ABC would be buoyed by the continuing strength of Sean Micallef's Mad as Hell which managed to pick up another 30,000 viewers week on week.
However it would be less pleased with The Chaser's Media Circus, which shed about 60,000 from week to week.
It's not clear what Network Ten would make of the T20 figures given it has the rights to the Big Bash League this year, but it would have been pleased with the performance of both Family Feud and The Project, which pulled in 593,000 and 584,000 respectively.
Family Feud in particular got a big bump week-to-week, adding another 72,000 week on week.
But it would be less pleased with the overnight ratings of The Millers, Wonderland and The Good Wife, which continue to post low overnight numbers.
However its pessimism would be tempered by the fact Wonderland and The Good Wife continue to add big audience share on time-shifting, and Wonderland did manage to sit inside the top 10 programs for under-55s.
The overnight weakness of Ten's offering meant it finished the night behind the ABC, only managing to bring in a 16.2% share against the ABCs 17.4%.
Meanwhile the cricket wasn't enough to get Channel Nine over the line, having a 30.2% share against Channel Seven's 31.2%.
However, Nine did manage to grab a main channel win over Seven
In other Channel Seven news, Seven has confirmed its big-budget reality show The Big Adventure will be cut back to a one-hour showing on Sundays, instead of being shown on both Sundays and Mondays. However, all episodes will be shown.
The move comes in light of relatively weak ratings for the show, having pulled in 643,000 viewers on Monday's showing. For a show giving away a million dollars.
Seven maintains it is merely re-jigging the timing of the show, with a spokesperson saying the move was part of its scheduling plans for the last three weeks of the ratings year.
