Tim Weger has bought creative agency Engine Group from founder Brent Jarvis.

Weger has been managing director for more than 10 years and started with Engine almost 19 years ago.

Commercial details have not been released. Engine Group was established in 1999.

Weger: “I’ve always treated the business like my own so not much at all is changing. Brent employed me in 2003 following an internship and I’ve grown up with the place, helping to shape it into what it is today in my capacity as MD.

"I’ve been very fortunate to surround myself with some of the brightest minds in advertising and communications and look forward to continuing to do so.

“I believe that creativity produces business value and growth. Creativity and ideas are our currency and this change allows me to invest even more in the strategic and creative process. We’re all about making tomorrow better than today, as creators of positive change.”

Bent Jarvis: “Tim taking over the business was always in the succession plan and the time now feels right to pull the trigger and complete the sale.

“After 50+ years in the ad agency game, I thought it was about time to step back and smell the roses. Far better than pushing up the daisies. It has been interesting.”

Jarvis started his career in Adelaide and then moved to Sydney, London and Brisbane. He worked for others including legends like Leo Burnett and Masius, but wasn’t sure the big agency corporate culture was his thing.

With a couple of like-minded folk he set up a creative shop in Brisbane, Brainwaves. They kicked a few goals and Ogilvy made them an offer too good to refuse.

Jarvis became MD of Ogilvy & Mather at age 30. After six very successful years he started Jarvis Fielding & More with Kevin Fielding. JF&M became the largest independent agency in Queensland The business was eventually sold and Engine Group was born.

In recent times Engine has delivered positive change in a number of different industries including building materials, government, tourism, resources, energy, shopping centre, primary/secondary education, tertiary education, property, building services, aged care, jewellery, beef, charity, recruitment & food & beverage.

Engine is a current Queensland Government creative services panellist and enjoys relationships with international, national and local clients including Vanuatu Tourism Office, UNE, St Vincent’s Care, Timber Framing Collective and many more.
